Benin City, Nigeria – April 19, 2025
In a landmark shift, the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) has announced that its long-running primetime news programme, EBS Comprehensive News, will air its final broadcast on May 4, 2025. This marks the end of a distinguished era in regional journalism.
Taking its place is a bold new offering: EBS Tonight, a modern news show poised to redefine the station’s news delivery. The new programme premieres on May 5 and promises viewers a richer, more engaging news experience.
“The changing landscape of news consumption calls for a fresh approach,” said Sulaiman Aledeh, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of EBS. “EBS Tonight is not just about reporting the news—it’s about creating a platform for meaningful dialogue that resonates with today’s audience.”
Initially airing as a one-hour programme, EBS Tonight is expected to evolve into a two-hour, uninterrupted news and talk format. The show will offer in-depth coverage of national and global developments, bolstered by live interviews with thought leaders and newsmakers from across the world.
The station has expressed deep gratitude to its loyal viewers and alumni, both in Nigeria and the diaspora, for their continued support of EBS Comprehensive News. Special appreciation was extended to Governor Monday Okpebholo, hailed as the “number one fan and brand ambassador” of EBS.
“We are immensely grateful to our community and look forward to this exciting new chapter,” Aledeh added.
With the launch of EBS Tonight, EBS is charting a new course—fusing trusted journalism with forward-thinking presentation in a bid to establish itself as a national leader in broadcast news.
