Initially, ownership of the Broadcasting Corporation was shared between the two states until the later formation of the Delta Broadcasting Service in Asaba. As a result, Edo State emerged as the sole owner of what was then known as the Bendel Broadcasting Service, which has since been rebranded Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).
Under the visionary leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, Edo Broadcasting Service has significantly expanded to include a third platform—its online presence. EBS now offers a comprehensive suite of services encompassing radio, television, and an integrated digital platform, allowing listeners to enjoy live shows with just a click.
The organisation is currently led by Managing Director Sulaiman Aledeh, an accomplished international journalist tasked with revolutionising the station into a vibrant broadcasting entity, while maintaining its status as a government-owned institution.
Edo Broadcasting Service operates entirely under the auspices of the Edo State Government and functions as a parastatal agency under the Ministry of Information and Communication.
The radio and television stations of EBS are widely accessible across Edo State and beyond. Additionally, there are two sub-stations, or booster stations, located at Ivue-Uromi and Ihievbe, near Afuze.
The Ivue-Uromi booster substation is responsible for re-transmitting television signals, whereas radio signals are re-transmitted from the Ihievbe station, which has recently resumed operations after a ten-year hiatus. The service broadcasts on two primary frequencies: FM signals at 95.7 MHz, while television services can be accessed on channel 55, transitioning to channel 45 on the ultra-high frequency band at 742.75 MHz.
Edo Broadcasting Service remains committed to delivering quality programming and serving the diverse needs of its audience, bolstering its role as a cornerstone of media in the region.
