Governor Okpebholo Approves Kabiru Adjoto’s Nomination as Chairman of Local Government Service Commission

Benin City, July 28, 2025 — The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto as the Chairman-designate of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission.

The announcement, conveyed through a special government statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, describes Adjoto as an astute politician and respected community leader from Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.

Rt. Hon. Adjoto holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He previously served as Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly and was a member of the House from 2009 to 2019. Throughout his legislative career, he held key positions including Chief Whip, Deputy Chief Whip, and Chairman of various House Committees.

In addition to his legislative roles, Adjoto also served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Parliamentary Affairs between 2019 and 2020.

The nomination has been forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for further consideration and confirmation.
