House Urges Multi-Chioce To Suspend Subscription Price Hike
The House of Representatives has called on digital satellite television provider, multi-choice, owners of dstv and gotv, to suspend increase in subscription rates.
The resolution of the House is sequel to the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance seeking to halt the increase, moved at plenary by Hon. Esosa iyawe from Edo State.
Some weeks ago, Nigerians woke up to the news of a 20-25 percent increase in the subscription rates by multichoice.
it announced a price hike of all its packages, citing prevailing economic factors, which it said led to increased operational costs.
This increase, which sparked public outcry, has received the attention of the attention of the lower chamber.
The lawmakers are now calling for a
probe of what they describe as arbitrary prices by the organisation.
