The Federal Government has approved provisional licenses for 11 private universities in the country.
Minister of Education, Dr Morufu Alausa, stated this while briefing State House
correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
While listing the universities, Minister of Education, Dr Morufu Tunji Alausa, said that President Tinubu remains committed to expanding the frontiers of
educational opportunities and infrastructure.
He explained that several of the applications of these universities have been pending for over three and a half years.
Dr Alausa added that the 11 new universities had fulfilled the rigorous 13 step process of the National University Commission.
The universities are New City University, Ayetoro, Ogun State; University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State; Eranova University, Mabushi, FCT; Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun; Abubakar Toyin University, Oke-Agba, Kwara State; Southern Atlantic University, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Lens University, Ilemona, Kwara State and Monarch University, Iyesi-Ota, Ogun State.
Others are Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin City, Edo State; Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos and Kevin Eze University, Mgbowo, Enugu State.
The Federal Executive Council also approved a N1.09 billion insurance
package, for critical assets and personnel across all federal airports in Nigeria.
In addition, N2.5 billion was approved for the procurement of satellite technology to tackle unlicensed and unregulated mining operations in the country.
Also approved is N733 billion to facilitate various road projects geared towards upgrading the country’s road network and bridges.
