Munich, May 31
Paris Saint-Germain delivered a masterclass performance on Saturday night, routing Inter Milan 5–0 in the UEFA Champions League final at the Allianz Arena to claim their first-ever European title.
The emphatic victory marks the biggest winning margin in a Champions League final and completes a historic treble for the French side under coach Luis Enrique, who led the club to Ligue 1 and Coupe de France triumphs earlier in the season.
Nineteen-year-old Désiré Doué was the star of the night, scoring twice and providing an assist in a breathtaking display. The teenager set up Achraf Hakimi’s opener in the 12th minute before doubling PSG’s lead with a deflected shot just eight minutes later. Doué added his second in the 63rd minute, becoming the youngest player to score and assist in a Champions League final.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu completed the demolition with goals in the 72nd and 88th minutes respectively, as Inter struggled to cope with PSG’s relentless pace and precision.
Saturday’s result puts an end to years of European frustration for the Parisian club, whose previous best finish was a runner-up position in 2020.
“This is a proud day for Paris,” said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi after the match. “We have built towards this moment for over a decade, and now we are Champions of Europe.”
The result also raises fresh questions about the future of Inter’s manager Simone Inzaghi, whose side entered the final unbeaten but were thoroughly outclassed on the night.
For PSG, it is not just a win — it is a statement. After years of heavy investment and near-misses, the French giants finally stand atop European football.
