Bende Traditional Rulers Endorse Kalu’s 2027 Re-election Bid, Reject Zoning Claims

Bende Traditional Rulers Endorse Kalu’s 2027 Re-election Bid, Reject Zoning Claims

The Bende South State Constituency (Ikwuisi) Traditional Rulers Council has endorsed Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu for a third-term bid in the House of Representatives.

The council also dismissed claims that a zoning agreement exists for the Bende Federal Constituency seat.

The endorsement was made during a meeting with Kalu, led by the council chairman, Eze Uchendu Okorie.

The monarchs praised his leadership, constituency projects, and effective representation, urging him to seek re-election.

The traditional rulers described Kalu as the best-performing representative Bende has produced, citing his legislative achievements, oversight functions, networking, and success in attracting federal projects to the constituency.

They also rejected the zoning argument, insisting there was never any arrangement for rotating the House of Representatives seat. According to them, retaining Kalu as Deputy Speaker is in the interest of Bende, Abia State, and the South East.

Responding, Kalu thanked the royal fathers for their support and confidence. He highlighted achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and empowerment, while promising to deliver more development if given another mandate.
