ABUJA – The ongoing crisis within the Labour Party (LP) took a new turn on Wednesday as Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairperson of the National Caretaker Committee, accused Barrister Julius Abure, the former National Chairman, of impersonation.
In a press conference held in Abuja, Usman stated that the LP’s National Executive Committee (NEC), under her leadership, had given Abure 24 hours to provide a satisfactory explanation as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
Usman further criticized Abure for allegedly undermining the party and its leadership. She advised him to focus on addressing the numerous allegations of corruption and forgery that have been leveled against him, rather than continuing to disparage the Labour Party.
The development marks a significant escalation in the internal conflict within the LP, as both factions appear to be firmly entrenched in their positions.
