Benin City, May 31, 2025 — In a renewed effort to resolve longstanding land disputes, the Edo State Government has commenced a comprehensive profiling exercise for property owners within the New City Development, formerly known as the Coral City project.
The exercise, which begins on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, and is expected to conclude on Friday, June 13, 2025, is being conducted in accordance with the directive of Governor Monday Okpebholo. It is focused on the areas designated as Lot-A and Lot-B, with additional lots to be addressed subsequently.
In an official notice issued by the Edo State Government Committee on Land Disputes Resolution, all property owners within the specified areas have been urged to come forward with relevant documents and land surveys. Where survey documents are unavailable, accurate coordinates will be accepted with assistance from government surveyors on site.
The profiling will take place directly within the affected communities and will be overseen by relevant state agencies. The aim is to verify land ownership, facilitate documentation, and lay the groundwork for the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O).
Governor Okpebholo recently held a crucial meeting with community leaders from Oke-Oroma, Obagie, and Amagba at Government House, Benin City. The discussions centered on achieving lasting peace and ensuring proper documentation of land ownership. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate with the committee for the successful execution of the exercise.
Reaffirming his commitment to peace and development, the Governor emphasized the need for community cooperation to restore harmony and order in the area, allowing residents to coexist peacefully once again.
The notice was signed by Dr. Abdulwasíu Oyakire, Secretary of the Committee.
