Abuja, Nigeria – Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared his intention to lead President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Wike made the statement on Monday in Abuja while responding to questions about his political alignment and future involvement with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
When asked if he would head the APC campaign in 2027, Wike responded pointedly:
“I have told you this before. Is it because I am in Asiwaju’s presidency? Are you not aware I will lead his campaign in Rivers State? You want me to say no?”
The former Rivers State governor also expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory in areas where he previously struggled, including the FCT.
“Are you not aware that he didn’t get up to 10 per cent here in FCT? But he will win here. Are you not aware?” Wike asked rhetorically.
He concluded by reiterating his stance on power rotation, stating, “Because I have said the South must produce the president.”
Wike’s comments further confirm his strong political alliance with President Tinubu and the ruling APC, despite being a former chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
