The Edo State Islamic Council has expressed profound appreciation to Governor Monday Okpebholo for his generous donation of rams, cows, and bags of rice to Muslims in the state in celebration of the forthcoming Eid El-Kabir festival.
In a statement issued in Benin City, the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abdulazeez Igbinidu, said the gesture had brought immense relief to Muslim families across the state, especially given the current economic challenges.
According to him, the timely and transparent distribution of the items marked a clear improvement over previous administrations’ efforts.
“The quality and promptness of the palliatives stand out,” Alhaji Igbinidu noted. “We are humbled and deeply grateful to His Excellency for extending such goodwill to the Muslim community.”
He said the League of Imams, various Muslim organizations, women and youth groups, and the Arewa community in Edo State have all welcomed the governor’s support with gratitude and prayers for divine reward.
Alhaji Igbinidu reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to working closely with the Okpebholo administration to promote peace, development, and religious harmony in the state.
“We pledge, on behalf of the Edo Muslim community, to support and collaborate with your administration in its efforts to return the state to the fast lane of integrated development,” he stated.
Quoting Islamic teachings, the Council noted that gratitude towards benefactors is a virtue commanded by Allah, and that the expression of appreciation is in line with Islamic values.
The Council chairman also assured that the items would be fairly distributed to mosques and Muslim communities across the state.
He prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Edo State under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership, and asked Allah (SWT) to guide the governor and his team with wisdom and vision to govern in the best interest of all citizens.
