While addressing members of the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Comrade Godiya Bogoro, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo raised concerns over the growing threat of mercenary involvement in local conflicts. Citing past incidents and the potential for future unrest, the governor cautioned against the dangers of importing armed actors and emphasized the critical role of Nigerian youths in sustaining national unity.
He urged the youth to reject violence and drug abuse, reminding them that they are not only future leaders but also the foundation of national development.
In response, Comrade Bogoro praised the governor’s swift handling of the recent Uromi incident and acknowledged the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Edo State.
Both parties agreed on the need for continued collaboration to forestall future crises and promote a peaceful, united Nigeria.
