Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic prospects, stating that the country has “turned the corner” and is now on a path of sustained growth .
Speaking at an Iftar event hosted by President Bola Tinubu for the leadership and members of the House of Representatives in Abuja, Shettima emphasized government’s commitment to creating an environment where every citizen can thrive.
Shettima said “with perseverance, the government will create a Nigeria where every citizen can thrive.”
He commended President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as a “man of vision and inclusivity.” He also praised the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, for fostering harmony within the legislature.
The Vice president urged the National Assembly leadership to prioritize unity and national development over political divisions and partisan interests and emphasized the importance of perseverance and collective effort in achieving government’s economic goals.
Earlier, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen thanked President Tinubu for the invitation to break fast with him and for always showing respect and concern for the House of Representatives.
He assured the president that every member of the House was in his support, noting that the policies of the government were for the betterment of the people and Nigeria as a country.
In a show of support, the House of Representatives donated ₦705 million to support government’s humanitarian efforts. This donation represents a 50% deduction from the lawmakers’ salaries over six months.
