The visit by the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership to the Edo State Government House highlights Nigeria’s trade volume with China amounting to $23 billion in 2023, it also stressed the trade deficit, which the Global Liaison Officer, Joseph Tegbe urged the State Government to take advantage of, including the Chinese President’s pledge of $51 billion investment for Africa, with Nigeria targeting $10 billion.
Governor Monday Okpebholo expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with the Chinese government to develop Edo particularly in agriculture. He explained the reason behind increasing agricultural budgetary allocation, demonstrating the sector’s importance to the state.
The partnership is expected to promote economic growth, improve living standards, and drive sustainable development in Nigeria, with Edo State being a key partner.
