GOV UNIBEN ₦100BN TRUST DEVELOPMENT FUND
Governor Monday Okpebholo has appealed to corporate organisations, alumni, philanthropists and development partners to support the University of Benin’s ₦100 billion Trust Development Fund, saying government alone cannot shoulder the growing financial demands of higher education.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Fund in Benin City, the Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Yakubu Musa, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the nation’s future. He said the Fund would strengthen the university’s capacity to produce the next generation of leaders, innovators, professionals and entrepreneurs.
The Governor commended the University of Benin for its more than five decades of academic excellence, groundbreaking research and the training of outstanding graduates who have made significant contributions to national development.
He also highlighted his administration’s commitment to improving tertiary education through increased funding, infrastructure development, research support and investments in human capital.
Governor Okpebholo therefore urged corporate organisations, distinguished alumni and other well-meaning Nigerians to contribute generously to the Trust Development Fund to help secure the university’s future and sustain its legacy of excellence.
