The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has applauded Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, for his dedication to revitalizing the state’s civil and public service through training and retraining programs aimed at boosting productivity.
Mrs. Anani made this commendation during her official visit to the Director General of the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), Mrs. Gina Otamere, in Benin City. She praised Mrs. Otamere’s commitment to advancing civil and public service training, as well as her contributions to social welfare, women, children, and youth development.
Recognizing Local Talent and Capacity Building
Expressing her support for the administration’s reforms, Mrs. Anani emphasized the importance of empowering local talent over external consultants.
“It is good to see the transformative work being done at JOOPSA. Having you at the helm of affairs is commendable because of your professionalism and deep understanding of the civil service. In the past, outsiders and consultants dominated roles meant for our workforce, leaving many of our people sidelined.
However, Edo people are hardworking, and it is time we take ownership of our responsibilities. His Excellency, the Governor, has given you the mandate to revive the civil service, train and retrain personnel, and ensure they grow in their roles to become more productive, efficient, and hardworking. I commend the Governor for believing in his own people and ensuring that Edo State’s workforce is strengthened from within.”
JOOPSA’s Commitment to Civil Service Excellence
In response, Mrs. Otamere expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed her dedication to executing the vision of the Sen. Okpebholo-led administration in building an efficient and results-driven civil and public service.
Highlighting the core mission of JOOPSA, she stated, “Our focus is on equipping civil and public servants with functional skills that enable them to be self-sufficient and effectively execute their roles and responsibilities. Through continuous training, we are committed to enhancing staff capacity, ensuring they perform efficiently and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.”
The visit underscored the administration’s strategic approach to fostering a competent and self-sustaining workforce, reinforcing its vision for a more productive Edo State.
