Benin City – Monday, July 14, 2025
The Edo State Government has announced the indefinite postponement of the official commissioning of the new Edo Line Transport Terminal in Benin City, originally scheduled to take place on Monday, July 14, 2025.
This decision follows the passing of Nigeria’s former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London.
In an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the government expressed its profound sorrow over the former president’s death, describing it as a moment of national grief and mourning.
The statement noted that the postponement was approved by the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, in consultation with the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
“All inconveniences associated with this sudden postponement are sincerely regretted. A new date for the official commissioning shall be communicated to the general public in due course,” the statement read.
The government further extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the late president and to all Nigerians, urging unity and collective reflection during this period of national loss.
President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, is remembered for his enduring impact on governance, national security, and the anti-co
