In pursuance of the mandate of Governor Monday Okpebholo to promote business and economic activities across markets in the state, the Edo market leader, Josephine Ebhaguejezele was on a fact finding visit to Idokpa Community to confirm the state of the site designated for the proposed Idokpa International market, before further actions can be taken by the state government.
Ebhaguejezele who was also at the burnt and abandoned Oba Market, lamented the rate of abandonment of critical infrastructures by the immediate past government.
The proposed site for the Idokpa International market in Idokpa Community was chosen two administrations ago, due to its strategic location in the state, with the community donating a huge parcel of land for the construction of the market.
With the coming of Governor Monday Okpebholo who assured his commitment to boosting market and trade activities in the state, the need to revive the dying and moribund markets came to the fore, prompting the visit of Edo market leader Josephine Ebhaguejezele to the abandoned site of the market.
She expressed confidence and promised that the next course of action is a stakeholders engagement by the Governor to kickstart the process of developing the market site
Earlier, the treasurer of the community, Daniel Iyekekpolor, called on the government to help retrieve the land from land grabbers who took advantage of the abandonment of the project to encroach the site
At the Oba market, Ebhaguejezele who inspected the burnt and abandoned market also assured the state government’s commitment to rebuild the market
