Nigeria Set To Host International Marathon
An international marathon will hold in Abuja on the first of March 2025, to kick start activities lined up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States ( ECOWAS).
Dropping the hint at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, the ECOWAS sports development officials noted that different events will be held across all ECOWAS States to commemorate the milestone.
The third edition of the marathon, is
the first to be organized under the golden anniversary program which will be celebrated across the
15 member states of the ECOWAS .
Director of ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre, Francis Njoaguani disclosed that the objective is not just to promote sports and well being of athletes but also create an environment of passion, Sharing, togetherness and at the same time, push forward the core objectives of ECOWAS, which is regional integration
Speaking on the uniqueness of the marathon the race director, Coach Gabriel Okon said it is going to be the most credible in Nigeria because the runners and vendors will be paid timely.
Okon maintained that the race will be open to all nations but priority will given member states, to promote unity and integration.
