Dame Momoh Ogheneochuko Canvasses Govt. Investment In The Fashion Industry 

The Group Chief Executive Officer of Blaid Group, Dame Ogeneochuko Momoh wants Nigerian government, to prioritize the fashion industry, citing its vast socio-economic potential to drive growth and development.

 

Momoh, who has made immense contributions to the country’s hospitality and tourism sectors through her company “The Nook Limited”, stressed the point during a special International Women’s Day interview with EBS in Abuja.

 

The entrepreneur also spoke extensively on the 4th edition of the Nook International fashion week which took place at Nook Hotel, Port Harcourt, Rivers State from 14 to 16 February 2025.

 

“The fashion industry is a significant contributor to Nigeria’s economy

increased visibility can attract foreign investment, create job opportunities, and boost exports, ultimately benefiting the nation’s economy.”

said Dame Momoh.

 

She disclosed that passion and divine inspiration, fueled by the desire to make a difference in lives of youth gave birth to what has redefined fashion in Nigeria.

 

The group Chief Executive Officer of Blaid Group asserted that Nigeria designers are among the best in world noting that their innovation and creativity have made many jettison English wears for Nigerian attires.

 

Momoh called on government to encourage the sector through deliberate investment.

 

Speaking about the fashion week, she noted that the idea is to make Port Harcourt a fashion and hospitality hub during Valentine.

 

The Entrepreneur stressed that to her, fashion is more than walking the runway.

 

“Our theme is decency, models walk the run dressed the way they do because they do not have a choice but I have said you can be decently dressed and still be beautiful.”

 

“When we started many designers did like the idea because they thought that is what sells but that perception has changed”

 

Style and elegance however took center stage at the Nook International Fashion show as the event brought together emerging and renowned designers, celebrities, and fashion enthusiasts from around the globe.

 

For three unforgettable days, the Nook Apartments transformed into a catwalk of creativity, from striking garments to grand unveilings of new faces, every moment was a testament to the future of fashion.

 

With 7 international designers among several Nigerian great minds and 40 model cast, the fashion week can be described as yet the biggest fashion fiesta in Nigeria.

 

Going by the blend of style, elegance, and creativity, the Nook International Fashion Show has set a new standard for fashion events in Nigeria.
