The Edo State Government has announced the establishment of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission as part of efforts to strengthen sustainable environmental management across the state.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, said Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the creation of the Commission to provide a legal and institutional framework for mobilizing and managing ecological resources in a transparent and accountable manner.
According to the statement, the initiative is aimed at enhancing coordination among stakeholders, aligning state actions with national and international environmental commitments, and contributing to ecological sustainability, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and environmental justice.
Governor Okpebholo also approved the appointment of pioneer members of the Commission to include:

Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, Esq. – Executive Chairman

Felix Ibhade – Executive Director (Projects)

Ivie Uwaifo – Executive Director (Administration)

Khadijat Yusuf – Executive Director (Finance)
The names of the nominees are to be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation.
The government noted that the move underscores its commitment to safeguarding the environment for present and future generations while positioning Edo State as a leader in climate action and sustainable development.
