The Edo State Government has formally presented Staff of Office and letters of appointment to newly recognized traditional rulers in three communities across the state, marking a significant milestone in traditional leadership transitions.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, the government announced the appointment of His Royal Majesty Michael Eshioronoya Olorunfemi Sado as the new Okuokpellagbe of Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area.
The state also revoked the appointment of Zaiki Ehi-Douglas Lucky Ehidiamen, who had served as regent in Okhuesan, Esan South East Local Government Area, for 18 years. He was initially appointed due to the minority of the designated heir. With the heir now of age, the Edo State Executive Council has officially appointed and presented Staff of Office to His Royal Highness Lucky Ehichioya Imhadojiemu as the Onojie of Okhuesan, effective from April 30, 2025.
In a related development, the state government has also confirmed the appointment of HRH Ehinomen Aigbojie as the Onojie of Onogholo, also in Esan South East Local Government Area.
The government congratulated the newly appointed monarchs and urged them to uphold peace, justice, and the welfare of their subjects in their respective domains.
