Abuja, Nigeria – May 6, 2025
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled the NIN Authentication Service (NINAuth), a new digital identity solution designed to provide secure, efficient, and user-controlled identity verification across all federal government platforms.
The launch of NINAuth follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive mandating the use of the National Identification Number (NIN) for identity verification across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, the new authentication platform integrates web, API, and mobile-based services to enable real-time identity verification for a wide range of public services, including SIM registration, immigration, tax compliance, government welfare programs, and driver’s license renewals.
“The NINAuth application is the official interface for secure integration with the Commission’s backend infrastructure,” Dr. Adegoke said. “It offers a robust layer of protection and places individuals in control of their data, requiring explicit user consent for any verification process, whether for Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance or other official services.”
Key Features of NINAuth:
-
Enhanced Security: Protects user data from unauthorized access.
-
User Control: Empowers individuals to manage their data-sharing preferences.
-
Seamless Access: Offers secure single sign-on for convenient access to services.
Dr. Adegoke emphasized that NINAuth is a major step toward modernizing Nigeria’s digital identity ecosystem, ensuring interoperability, database harmonization, and compliance with the National Identity Policy.
The platform has now been designated as the exclusive channel for all NIN-based identity verification and authentication services in Nigeria.
Nigerians are encouraged to download the NINAuth mobile app, now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
