Federal High Court Opens Registries on Weekends, Public Holidays for Pre-Election Cases
The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced that its registries across all divisions nationwide will now operate on weekends and public holidays strictly for the filing of pre-election matters.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the court stated that the registries would be open between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on weekends and public holidays to accommodate legal practitioners handling pre-election cases.
According to the statement, signed by the Chief Registrar, Yahaya Shafa, the measure became necessary in view of the limited constitutional timeframe allowed for the filing of pre-election matters.
The court emphasized that the special arrangement applies exclusively to pre-election matters and is aimed at ensuring timely access to judicial processes ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
