A 21-year-old woman, Precious Anegbode, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, identified only as Damilola, to death during a domestic dispute in the Ijegun area of Lagos.
The tragic incident occurred last Friday after Anegbode visited her boyfriend at his residence. What started as a verbal disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Anegbode allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed him.
According to witnesses, the argument became loud enough to draw the attention of neighbours. “We heard them shouting at each other, and not long after, she began screaming. When we got there, we saw his body on the floor,” a resident said.
Neighbours rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival. Others at the scene reportedly restrained Anegbode from fleeing until police were notified.
Lagos Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and said the case was first reported to the Igando Police Division. He explained that officers were dispatched to the scene and took the suspect into custody.
“The victim was taken to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The suspect was arrested, and the murder weapon—a bloodstained knife—was recovered at the scene,” Hundeyin said.
He added that after preliminary investigations, the case was transferred to the Isheri Oshun Division before being handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for further investigation.
“The suspect gave a statement under caution. The crime scene was documented with photographs and evidence collection. The case file and exhibits will be forwarded to SCID for a thorough investigation and possible prosecution,” he concluded.
