PUBLIC NOTICE: RECRUITMENT INTO THE RE-ORGANISED EDO STATE SECURITY CORPS

The Edo State Ministry of Information and Communications hereby announces the commencement of recruitment into the restructured Edo State Security Corps. This exercise is in line with the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local security and improve public safety.

The recruitment is being coordinated by a special committee tasked with selecting, training, and deploying qualified candidates to support conventional security agencies in combating crime across the state.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants will be drawn from each Local Government Area and may include:

  • Local hunters

  • Vigilante members

  • Retired military and police officers

  • Other residents (indigenes and non-indigenes) with a long-term presence in their communities

Requirements

Applicants must:

  1. Possess a basic educational background

  2. Be physically fit, of sound mind, and free of any criminal record or cult affiliation

  3. Provide two references well known in their community and three close acquaintances

  4. Present two guarantors — one must be the Local Government Chairman, and the other a clergy (pastor or imam)

  5. Have previous security-related experience (advantageous but not mandatory)

Note: The selection committee reserves the right to disqualify candidates and will not accept nominated names from individuals or groups.

This recruitment strategy is strictly merit-based and aims to create a professional and effective security corps dedicated to supporting peace and safety in Edo State.
