Benin City, April 22, 2025 — The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability with the reintroduction of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, set to commence on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ighilor, the exercise is a continuation of efforts to promote cleanliness and public health across the state. This move follows an earlier announcement made on March 15, 2025, regarding the reimplementation of the monthly sanitation initiative.
Residents are strongly encouraged to participate actively in the exercise, which will take place during the morning hours of 7:00 am to 10:00 am. During this period, movement of both people and vehicles will be restricted. However, exemptions will be made for essential service workers and candidates sitting for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which begins nationwide on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The government urges all citizens to cooperate fully, emphasizing that maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility.
