11-05-2026–GOV OKPEBHOLO CONDEMNS UNIBEN DAYLIGHT KILLING
Governor Monday Okpebholo has strongly condemned the daylight killing of a young man at the main gate of the University of Benin by suspected gunmen, describing the incident as a serious threat to public safety and security in Edo State.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Patrick Ebojele, Governor Okpebholo expressed deep sympathy to the family, friends, and associates of the deceased, whose life he said was cut short in a tragic and senseless manner.
The Governor assured that the Edo State Police Command has already commenced investigations into the incident, while security agencies have been directed to intensify efforts to track down and arrest those responsible.
Governor Okpebholo also assured the victim’s family and members of the public that the case would be thoroughly pursued and that justice would be served.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling cult-related violence and other criminal activities across Edo State.
