The SDP was the first to withdraw its petition on 4 February 2025 .
Counsel to SDP informed court that the petitioners do not want to proceed with the case noting that the national body of the party had already congratulated Governor Okpebohole on his victory in the election.
The Allied People’s Movement (APM),
Action Democratic Party (ADP),
and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) made same move on 7 February.
They told the court they were withdrawing their cases for the sake of justice and peace in the state.
At Resumption of proceedings for final judgment today Wednesday, only three petitions were left.
They are petitions by The Action Alliance (AA), Accord party (AC) and People’s Democratic Party, (PDP).
In the first round, the court dismissed the case of the Action Alliance.
It held that Adekunle Rufai Omoaje who filed the joint petition has no locus standi to Institute the case.
Presently, the court is ruling on the petition of the Accord Party.
All supporting motions have been dismissed and the merit and demerits of the main petition are being reeled.
It is expected that the petition by PDP and it’s candidate Asue Ighodalo will be next.
