Rivers State Administrator Develops 2025 Budget to Drive Development

Rivers State Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has announced the preparation of a 2025 budget aimed at advancing key sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. The budget will also emphasize job creation and technological advancement in public services.

Speaking during a meeting with the Rivers State National Assembly caucus, led by Senator Barinada Mpigi, at Government House in Port Harcourt, Ibas reaffirmed his commitment to restoring law and order in the state. He credited security agencies for their role in creating a safer and more conducive environment for residents.

“Our vision is to establish Rivers State as a beacon of peace and economic stability, where citizens can pursue their livelihoods without fear,” Ibas stated.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision on the state’s budget, the administration took swift action to craft a new financial plan that aligns with its priorities. Ibas assured that the budget process is being conducted transparently and inclusively to prevent further delays in essential investments that will benefit residents.

“We are finalizing a budget that prioritizes job creation and investments in crucial sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and technology. Recognizing the urgency, we are committed to swift implementation,” he added.

Ibas underscored the importance of collaboration with National Assembly legislators to secure funding and legislative approvals necessary for executing his administration’s agenda.

“Your partnership is essential to maintaining Rivers State’s progress and ensuring a future of lasting peace and development,” he told the legislators.

Addressing the challenges that led to President Tinubu’s state of emergency declaration, Ibas highlighted his administration’s efforts in fostering trust through dialogue, community engagement, and reconciliation. He acknowledged the resilience of Rivers residents and pledged to continue working towards lasting peace and stability.

“Beyond security, we have prioritized community engagement as a core strategy. Through dialogue and inclusivity, we are strengthening unity in Rivers State, ensuring that every citizen feels valued and heard,” he said.

Senator Barinada Mpigi, representing the Rivers South-East District, commended the Administrator’s efforts and assured the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting the state’s development initiatives. He reaffirmed the legislators’ dedication to restoring peace and progress in Rivers State.
