Reps Panel Approves N250bn SEDC 2025 Budget

The House of Representatives Committee on South East Development Commission (SEDC) has approved N250 billion for the South East Development Commission as budget for 2025 fiscal year.

Chairman of the Committee, Chris Nkwonta, addressing National Assembly newsmen after the budget defence in Abuja, said approval of the budget marked the beginning of good things in the development of the South East.

Nkwonta expressed optimism that the budget will bring about a new lease of life for the region hitherto neglected for over 54 years after the civil war.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for signing the SEDC bill into law, emphasizing that with the budget, neglected parts of the South East will now witness government presence in terms of infrastructural development.

He assured Nigerians from the region, that the budget will be targeted at addressing infrastructural deficits in the geopolitical zone even as he stressed that through project implementation, the SEDC will bring an end to agitations and youth unrest in the region.
