Liverpool manager Arne Slot has described winning the Premier League at Anfield as “one of the best days” of his life, as the Reds clinched their 20th English league title in spectacular fashion.
Liverpool demolished Tottenham Hotspur 5–1 on Sunday to seal the championship with four games to spare, sparking jubilant celebrations among fans at a packed Anfield.
“Maybe for all Liverpool fans, but for many of them, one of the best days of their lives—and I think it was the same for me,” Slot told reporters on Friday.
He reflected on the emotion of the day: “The way the whole day went—arriving at the stadium, how intense the fans already were, then going 1-0 behind—it felt like, ‘We’re going to have to work for this.’ Scoring the goals, seeing how much it meant to the players and the fans, was really special.”
With matches still to come against Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, and Crystal Palace, Slot emphasized the importance of maintaining focus.
“It’s nice that we play some very strong teams… It gives an immediate challenge to those games. It’s the end of the season but also the beginning of next season in terms of mentality.”
Slot admitted he was surprised by the 22-point gap between Liverpool and fifth-placed Chelsea, despite a close 2–1 win in their last meeting.
“In that game, we had to suffer more than any other game. So being this far ahead is a big compliment to everyone at this club.”
The Dutchman also highlighted how Liverpool’s success could help in attracting new players.
“Winning the league, having these fans—this is a big attraction to every player we want to bring in,” he said.
While Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have recently extended their contracts, Slot said there was no new update on Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
