Embassy of Belgium in Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigerian Women Economic Development Project has commemorated the 2025 international women’s day with the Coordinator, Office of Edo First Lady Edesili Anani as one of the speakers.
EBS’s Juliet Samuel Asein reports the event which saw the convergence of guests in the forefront of women and girls emancipation in the country was at the instance of the ambassador of Belgium to Nigeria, His excellency Pieter Leenknegt.
In her goodwill message, the coordinator, office of Edo first lady Edesili Anani underscored the need for thorough assessment of progress made thirty years after the declaration of a day to commemorate women the world over.
Anani called for an ecosystem of sisterhood to articulate aspirations and ambitions, add value to whatever they do as well as own their space even as the urgent need to mentor young girls, encouraging girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics STEM was emphasized.
Highpoint of the event was panelist session, cultural entertainment, keynote speech by director, association of diplomatic women in nigeria Mrs Ruby Ross and presentation of certificates of attendance and recognition to selected guests including Mrs Edesili Anani
