Remi Tinubu: “Senate is Doing What is Needful”
The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has admonished women to raise their heads high in the midst of unwarranted male attention.
She made the remarks while speaking with journalists at the State House Abuja.
Senator Remi Tinubu who was speaking after a meeting with wives of governors made the remarks against the backdrop of alleged sexual harassment claims by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Speaking ahead of the International Women’s Day, she dismissed concerns over the Senate’s handling of issues, insisting lawmakers are doing what was needful.
Mrs Tinubu, who served in the Senate for 12 years, said the chamber should be a place of honour and not controversy adding that the Senate remains a matured institution that must be treated with respect.
The International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 every year.
