Abuja, April 29, 2025 — The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Tuesday on behalf of the Federal Government. He acknowledged the vital role Nigerian workers play in national development and commended their dedication, resilience, and sacrifices.
“There is dignity in labour. The dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” the minister stated.
Tunji-Ojo urged workers across the country to embrace a culture of innovation and productivity, emphasizing that their contributions are instrumental in driving economic growth and enhancing governance.
He reassured citizens of the government’s commitment to securing lives and property, noting that peace is essential to achieving industrialization and sustainable development.
The minister also encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
While wishing workers a joyful celebration, he called on them to continue supporting efforts to build a more prosperous nation.
