Just In: ASUU Lecturers Resume Indefinite Strike, Cite Unmet Demands

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has officially announced the resumption of an indefinite strike, citing unresolved issues with the federal government. The decision to halt academic activities comes after failed negotiations concerning key demands, including improved funding for universities, better welfare for lecturers, and the implementation of previous agreements.

ASUU, in a statement released earlier today, expressed disappointment over the government’s inability to meet its obligations despite multiple discussions over the years. The union emphasized that the strike would continue indefinitely until all demands are fully addressed.

The strike is expected to disrupt academic activities across public universities nationwide, affecting thousands of students and lecturers. ASUU has called on the government to prioritize the education sector and fulfill its promises to ensure the sustainability of higher education in the country.

The development has sparked mixed reactions from the public, with students and parents expressing concern over the prolonged academic disruptions. The federal government has yet to issue an official response to the strike.
