In compliance with a late-hour Abuja Federal High Court Order, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has
included the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidates in by-elections holding in 12 states this Saturday.
According to a statement by INEC
National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee Sam Olumekun, the names of the candidates submitted manually have been accepted and published on the Commission’s website.
The Commission has assured the public especially voters in the 12 States that the by-elections will proceed as scheduled on August 16, 2025, despite the late judgment.
INEC has also announced its intention to exercise its right of appeal under the law.
