FEC Approves Group Life Assurance Scheme for Federal Workers

ABUJA — The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the 2025/2026 Group Life Assurance Scheme for federal public servants, further reinforcing the government’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce.

The scheme will cover President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, top government officials, and civil servants in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), including personnel in the military and paramilitary services.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s Personal Assistant on Special Duties, Kamorudeen Yusuf.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has reaffirmed its commitment to worker welfare and institutional compassion with the approval of the 2025/2026 Group Life Assurance Scheme for federal public servants and top government officials including himself and the Vice President,” the statement read.

Seventeen insurance companies have been appointed to administer the scheme, which is designed to provide financial support to the families of deceased public servants.

Yusuf described the initiative as a significant step toward institutional care and protection for workers, stating that it reflects the broader goals of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This is more than a financial safeguard. It is a humane and forward-looking policy that recognises the sacrifices of public servants. The Renewed Hope Agenda continues to elevate dignity, stability, and security for Nigeria’s workforce,” he added.

The Group Life Assurance Scheme ensures that the next of kin of any federal worker who dies in active service receives compensation, providing crucial support during times of loss.
