Benin City, March 15, 2025 — The Edo State Government has officially announced the reintroduction of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, set to begin on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The exercise will take place on the last Saturday of every month, running from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
This initiative, approved by the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, is part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents of the state.
In a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the government emphasized that during the sanitation period, both human and vehicular movements will be restricted. Only personnel on essential duties will be exempted from the movement ban, in order to ensure maximum participation in the exercise.
The state government is calling on all residents to actively take part in cleaning their surroundings as a collective responsibility to enhance public health and environmental hygiene across Edo State.
