Benin City, October 16, 2025 — The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, cautioning him to desist from parading himself as the Chairman of the party in the state.
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Bob-Manuel Umoru, the party described Dr. Aziegbemi’s actions as “reckless and fraudulent,” asserting that he no longer holds any legitimate claim to the position.
According to the statement, the Edo PDP State Congress held on October 5, 2025, duly produced Barrister Nosa Ogieve-Okunbor as the authentic and lawfully elected State Chairman. The party stressed that any claim to the contrary was “a deliberate falsehood intended to mislead the unsuspecting public.”
The release further criticized Dr. Aziegbemi’s tenure, labeling it “a period marked by failures, internal crises, electoral losses, and monumental embarrassment.” It alleged that under his leadership, the party suffered significant setbacks and “became a shadow of itself.”
The statement also revealed that Dr. Aziegbemi had defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) along with some of his allies, which the party said stripped him of any moral or legal right to speak or act on behalf of the PDP.
“His continuous impersonation as State Chairman is not only deceptive and contemptuous but also an affront to the Constitution of our party,” the statement read.
The Edo PDP, therefore, issued what it termed a final warning, demanding that Dr. Aziegbemi immediately stop parading himself as Chairman or risk facing legal action.
The party also cautioned the general public and political stakeholders against engaging in any dealings with Dr. Aziegbemi in the name of the PDP, stating that such actions would be “null, void, and done at their own risk.”
Reaffirming its leadership structure, the statement concluded that the Edo PDP remains under the firm leadership of Barr. Nosa Ogieve-Okunbor, pledging a renewed commitment to unity, discipline, and rebuilding the party’s honour and glory.
