Benin City — The Edo State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Monday Okpebholo, has approved a series of road construction and infrastructure development projects across the state, with a particular focus on oil-producing communities.
Speaking to journalists shortly after a closed-door council meeting, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, announced the newly approved projects, which span the three senatorial districts of the state.
He stated that in addition to road construction, the state government is undertaking comprehensive development efforts that include building community markets, erosion control projects, jetties, and the supply and installation of electricity in nine riverine and rural communities.

“These projects are not isolated interventions; they are part of a broader agenda to bring real development to every corner of Edo State,” Ohonbamu said. “Governor Okpebholo’s administration remains committed to Project Shine, a blueprint for a reformed, responsive, and workable Edo.”
He noted that pension issues were also discussed at the council meeting, with new steps being taken to address long-standing concerns among retirees.
The commissioner reaffirmed that the Okpebholo-led administration is determined to deliver people-centered governance through infrastructure and social services that enhance the quality of life across the state.
