Edo Governor Appoints Dr. (Mrs.) Rita Erewele as Chairman, Senior Secondary Education Board

Benin City, October 13, 2025 — The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Rita Otibho Erewele as the new Chairman of the Edo State Senior Secondary Education Board.

Dr. Erewele replaces Dr. Maureen O. Ekhoragbon, who has been relieved of her duties with immediate effect.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the appointment takes immediate effect.

Dr. Erewele, an accomplished educationist and administrator, brings over two decades of progressive experience in Nigeria’s education sector. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Planning, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Benin.

She has served in various leadership roles, including as a lecturer, education consultant, and senior education officer. Her work in policy development, teacher training, and curriculum enhancement has earned her recognition for excellence in academic leadership and educational reform.

Dr. Erewele is also a member of professional bodies such as the Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP) and the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

Her appointment is expected to strengthen Edo State’s commitment to improving the quality of secondary education and advancing educational reforms across the state.
