Governor Monday Okpebholo welcomed Osamwonyi, describing the defection as a significant gain for the party. He assured the lawmaker of a level playing field, emphasizing that 2027 is a reality for President Tinubu in Edo State.
Osamwonyi, who also serves as the House Standing Committee on Budget and Appropriation, cited his desire to ensure the actualization of projects earmarked for his constituency by Governor Okpebholo as the reason for his defection.
The surge in defection to the APC in the State may have significant implications for the 2027 presidential election and with the APC’s growing strength in the state, Governor Okpebholo’s administration may be well-positioned to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
