A Letter of Glory — How EBS Earned the Gratitude of the Catholic Community For Live Broadcast

*A Letter of Glory — How EBS Earned the Gratitude of the Catholic Community For Live Broadcast.*

In public service, there is no greater reward than a “thank you” from the people you served. For *Edo Broadcasting Service, EBS*, that moment came in a letter from the Catholic community in Benin city , Edo state , in appreciation of the station’s live coverage of the funeral rites of the *late Most Rev. Fr. Augustine Akubeze, Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin*, held on *August 12 and 13, 2026*.

That letter did more than commendation. It brought glory to EBS. It sounded as an encouragement. And it reminded us why public broadcasting matters.

*1. Service Beyond Broadcasting*
When a spiritual father goes home, the entire community mourns. Thousands could not be in Benin City for the two-day rites. Roads were filled, Churches were filled, Hearts were heavy.
EBS stepped in. For two days, the station carried the requiem mass, tributes, processions, and final commendation live — with dignity, clarity, and reverence.
In homes across Edo, in diaspora communities on phones and TVs, EBS brought the altar to the people. That is not just coverage. That is ministry.

*2. Professionalism That Earned Respect*
The Catholic community’s letter singled out EBS for its organization, technical quality, and respectful presentation. In moments of grief, tone matters. Words matter. Silence matters.
The EBS team delivered a broadcast that honored the office of the Archbishop, comforted the bereaved, and projected Edo State to a national and global audience.
To receive commendation from a body as respected as the Catholic Church is to receive a mark of credibility. It tells advertisers, partners, and viewers: _EBS can be trusted with moments that matter._

*3. Glory to the Station, Encouragement to the Team*
That letter has done two things for EBS.
First, *it brought glory*. It put EBS on record as the broadcaster that stood with the people in a defining spiritual moment for Edo.
Second, *it brought encouragement*. For staff who worked long hours, for technicians, reporters, and presenters, the letter is proof that excellence does not go unseen. It is fuel to do more, and to do it better.

*4. The Bigger Mandate*
*Today, EBS brings all government projects across Edo State to the doorsteps of the people.*
But EBS is not only about government. It is about the people, About culture, About faith and About community.
The coverage of Archbishop Akubeze’s funeral shows that when EBS combines professionalism with purpose, it becomes more than a station. It becomes a public trust.

*Conclusion*
I congratulate all the staff of EBS that put service first.
To the Catholic community: thank you for the letter. Thank you for the recognition.

May this commendation be the beginning of more partnerships between EBS and faith-based, community, and civic institutions.

Because when EBS serves well, Edo shines.
*And on August 12 and 13, 2026, EBS served well. And Edo, and the Church, took notice.*
