- Edo Partners Saudi Arabia on Agricultural, Livestock Investment
The Edo State Government has strengthened its drive to attract foreign investment into agriculture and livestock development following a strategic meeting with officials of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Abuja.
The meeting, was led by the Edo State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Ohimai Ehijimetor, who met with Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Abdulrahman Altwaim and Head of Economic Cooperation, Yazid Halawaniat, at the embassy.
Other members of the Edo State delegation included, Special Adviser on Livestock Development, Roland Igbadumhe and Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture and Food Security Emmanuel Sule, who is coordinating the state government’s engagements with diplomatic missions ahead of the forthcoming Edo International Agricultural and Livestock Investment Summit, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Ehijimetor described the engagement as successful, expressing optimism that the partnership would open new investment opportunities for Edo State’s agricultural and livestock sectors.
According to the commissioner, the Saudi Arabian Embassy has pledged support for the state government’s efforts to industrialise agricultural and livestock production through investment mobilisation and strategic international partnerships.
He disclosed that the embassy would assist Edo State in attracting investors to participate in the forthcoming investment summit, while also facilitating direct engagements with potential investors in Saudi Arabia.
“Apart from assisting us in mobilising investors to participate in the forthcoming summit, the Saudi Arabia Embassy is also going to organise meetings in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for us to have one-on-one discussions with investment companies,” Ehijimetor said.
The proposed meetings in Riyadh are expected to provide the Edo State delegation with opportunities to engage directly with investment companies and explore areas of mutual interest in agricultural production, livestock development and agro-industrial expansion.
The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to position Edo as an attractive destination for local and international investors in the agricultural sector.
With the Edo International Agricultural and Livestock Investment Summit approaching, the government is intensifying diplomatic and economic engagements aimed at building partnerships capable of supporting investment inflows, improving production capacity and strengthening the state’s agricultural value chains.
The planned collaboration with Saudi Arabia represents another step towards expanding Edo State’s international investment network, with the potential to create new opportunities across agriculture, livestock production and related industries.
