20-10-2026—GOV EDO RUBBER INDUSTRY PROMOTION
Governor Monday Okpebholo says Edo State will strengthen its position in the rubber industry by promoting value addition, industrial growth and job creation.
The governor spoke through his Chief of Staff, Yakubu Musa, who represented him at the International Rubber Research and Development Board, Fellowship, Training and International Rubber Conference in Benin City on Tuesday, that hosted delegates from the IRRDB’s 23 member countries, alongside researchers, investors and industry stakeholders.
He described the conference as an opportunity to promote international collaboration, exchange knowledge and explore innovations that would boost rubber production and support sustainable economic growth.
Musa said the state aims to move beyond raw rubber production to processing and industrial development, creating jobs and expanding opportunities for farmers and young people.
He stressed the need for modern research, improved farming practices, sustainable production and private-sector investment.
The Chief of Staff also highlighted the role of the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria in improving production and advancing research, urging participants to develop practical solutions and partnerships that would attract investment.
