18-10-2026—GOV RECEIVES CAN CHRISTIAN ICON AWARD
The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has honoured Governor Monday Okpebholo with the Christian Icon Award as part of activities marking its 50th anniversary in Abuja.
The award was presented at the National Christian Centre in the Central Business District, where CAN President, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, and co-chairmen of the anniversary planning committee, Boss Mustapha and Archbishop Michael Akinwale, said the recognition reflected the governor’s commitment to compassionate public service, ethical leadership and Christian values in governance.
They noted that his contributions to public service and the Christian community had made an impact, adding that the award celebrates leaders who demonstrate integrity, excellence and a commitment to nation-building while upholding the principles of faith and service.
Reacting to the honour, Governor Okpebholo said the recognition would motivate him to do more for the people of Edo State and Nigeria, as CAN continues to highlight the role of Christian organisations and faith-based values in national development.
Founded in 1976, CAN is the umbrella body of Christian denominations in Nigeria and is marking its Golden Jubilee with activities celebrating five decades of service to the Christian community and the nation.
