BENIN CITY – The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Professor Victor Adetimirin Olawale as the new Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the appointment takes immediate effect.
Prof. Olawale, a Professor of Agronomy, is a seasoned academic and administrator with decades of experience in teaching, research, and university leadership. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, as well as his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Plant Breeding and Genetics, from the University of Ibadan.
Over the years, he has held several key positions in the Nigerian university system, including Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, and Director of Academic Planning. He has contributed to curriculum development, research innovations, and institutional reforms, and has published widely in reputable local and international journals.
The Edo State Government expressed confidence that Prof. Olawale’s wealth of experience and commitment to academic excellence would further strengthen Edo University’s position as a hub for learning and research excellence in Nigeria and beyond.
