Democracy Day: Okpebholo Building a More Inclusive, Equitable Edo — Ohonbamu

• Edo Commissioner says governor committed to people-first governance

As Nigeria marks Democracy Day, the Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, has reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to deepening democratic values through inclusive governance and equitable development.

In a statement issued in Benin City, Ohonbamu praised Governor Monday Okpebholo’s leadership, stating that the administration is focused on delivering the true dividends of democracy to all Edo people, regardless of background or location.

“His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, believes that democracy must translate into improved living conditions and opportunities for the people. His administration is fully committed to building a state where inclusivity, equity, and justice are not just ideals, but realities,” the Commissioner said.

Reflecting on the significance of Democracy Day, Ohonbamu urged citizens to remember the sacrifices made by pro-democracy heroes and to embrace the core democratic values of freedom, justice, accountability, and good governance.

“Democracy is not just a system of governance; it’s a way of life that empowers citizens and strengthens institutions,” he said. “Today, we celebrate both the progress we have made and the responsibilities that lie ahead.”

He added that the Okpebholo administration is prioritizing policies and initiatives that promote participation, protect citizens’ rights, and ensure that the voices of all Edo people are heard.

“As we reflect on the meaning of Democracy Day, let us recommit ourselves to building a stronger, more inclusive Edo State. Under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership, the state government is charting a path that embraces fairness, transparency, and people-driven development,” Ohonbamu stated.
