The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday sealed the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja over alleged failure to pay ground rent.
The building, located in Wuse Zone 5, was shut down just a day ahead of the party’s scheduled National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, raising questions about the timing of the action.
Officials from the FCTA’s Department of Development Control were seen placing “sealed” notices at various entry points of the building on Monday afternoon. Sources say the move followed repeated demands by the FCTA for the party to settle outstanding statutory fees.
The PDP has yet to issue an official response regarding the development or the status of its NEC meeting.
The sealing of the secretariat comes at a time when the party is expected to deliberate on key internal matters, including leadership and strategic decisions ahead of future elections.
